Shocker

"A modern Ford Mustang sits idle at a red light across the street from the Saleem Auto repair shop on June 18, 2010."

Ever since I have lived off of Main street, the Saleem Auto repair shop has been active, but now it is gone. A symbol of the recession? Not sure...

Either way, it was a symbol for me of good pictures.

A while back, there was an American flag left in the front window of the shop, but now it is gone. I thought that would have been a killer picture, but when I went there today, someone took it out.

Drat.

However, I shot this frame and only realized its great significance after I toned it at home. This picture captures the exact reason WHY small businesses like Saleem are closing.

People simply take there cars to large, corporation-owned dealerships, not small hometown repair shops.

Wouldn't it make sense though for people to take there cars to the dealership since they would appear more honest? If you ask my mom, she doesn't think they have the word honest in their vocabulary.

For a while, we were getting our cars fixed at a local shop like Saleem Auto repair for this exact reason.

Oh, the irony
